Zahir is our Chief Executive Officer. He comes to Wave with decades of executive experience, most recently as General Manager for Afterpay North America, and previously as Executive Vice President at Mastercard. He joined Mastercard in 2012 as Chief Executive Officer for Mobile Payment Solutions (MPS) where he was responsible for deploying mobile solutions in Brazil, Argentina, Egypt, Indonesia, Philippines, India and Turkey.

Zahir has always had a passion for small business and enabling financial access for all. This led him to a four-year stint as President and CEO of M-Paisa Afghanistan, bringing banking and financial education to underserved communities.

Speaking of passion, Zahir’s mad love for Canada’s own Vancouver Canucks follows him everywhere (including into his pocket⁠—check out his phone case if you get the chance!). These days he calls California home, and lives there with his wife and two daughters.

Tam is the Chief Financial Officer, responsible for accounting/finance, taxes, and compliance at Wave. She's led the company through its successful acquisition by H&R Block, a financing round, several corporate reorganizations, and multiple ERP and payroll system changes. Prior to joining Wave, Tam served as the CFO of FinanceIt, a fintech company in the marketplace lending space, where she was integral to the launch of their U.S. lending business, acquisition of a substantial lending portfolio from a major bank, and more.

Tam has a passion for travel and has visited Antarctica, Patagonia, and the Maldives. She’s a proud supporter of animal rights and rescues, and LGBTQ+ causes. You'll often find her doing hot yoga, playing badminton, scaling a rock wall, or hanging with her teacup Yorkie.

Geoff is the Chief Technology Officer. He's been a professional software developer and leader for over 35 years. Geoff's passion is using technology to solve problems for people. He believes that at its heart, software development is a human endeavour that requires empathy and best-of-breed collaboration. He has held leadership positions at Sitraka Software, Quest Software, Dell, and most recently Amazon, working in technologies ranging from embedded C, cross-platform C++ UI frameworks, front-end Java, back-end Java, and Python.

Outside of work, Geoff is an avid cyclist who puts thousands of kilometers on a poor, overburdened, hybrid bike each year. He loves kayaking, hiking, and is almost always the worst hockey player on any team he joins.

David Axler is the Chief Strategy Officer, focusing on formulating, communicating, and fulfilling Wave’s initiatives and future goals. With over five years at Wave, David brings an enthusiastic leadership style and unyielding service to our customers. Prior to Wave, David was a GM and Chief of Staff at a B2B technology company, Influitive, and was previously a management consultant with Deloitte. A graduate of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, he has a wealth of experience knowledge in business strategy and growth.

Outside of work, David can be found in various arenas across the city, including coaching his kids’ hockey teams and, when he’s lucky enough to find the time, paddling a canoe across an open lake or struggling his way around a golf course.

Victoria MacDonald is our Chief People Officer who is accountable for driving our culture, employee experience, talent acquisition, and total rewards. She brings a wealth of experience, including CPO positions at Real Matters Inc and We.org. She is known for creating cultures of high performance and engagement by connecting employees to the mission, vision, and values of an organization.

At home, Victoria has a number of passions, including family time at the cottage, agility classes with her dog, River, and attending live music events. And don’t be surprised if you find her in culinary school one of these days—it’s her not-so-secret ambition
