Printing your own shipping labels so you can mail envelopes and packages directly from your location helps your business run more efficiently. When you need to be able to track pieces of mail, you can obtain tracking numbers from the U.S. Postal Service as well. You can print shipping labels that include tracking numbers when you create, pay for and print the labels using the Postal Service's free Click-N-Ship application.

Navigate to the U.S. Postal Service website (see link in Resources) and click the "Ship Online Now" button. Select the country of your destination address and click "Print a Shipping Label Now."

Click the "Sign Up Now" button if you do not have a USPS.com account and complete the required fields to create an account. Enter your username and password if you do have an account.

Click "Edit" if you are sending the mail from a location other than your default address. Enter the address to which you want to send the item. Enter package details, such as the weight, shipping date and insurance desired, if any. Click "Next."

Select a service option, such as Flat Rate Envelope or Express Mail Service. Choose an option that provides tracking, such as Delivery Confirmation or Signature Confirmation. Click "Next."

Review your information and click "Next." Enter your billing information, confirm the payment and print your label complete with a tracking number.
